11th july 2010: Netherlands - Spain

Netherlands and Spain: two different styles of play that will face to rise the World Cup.
The Netherlands focuses on the quality of its content up front, Spain relies on the operation of ball possession in the middle of the field.

NETHERLANDS
The Oranges of Van Marwijk did not play the "total football" that made the history, neither offer entertainment. Someone during the tournament had even turned their noses up: heresy! The facts give the reason: 12 goals in 6 games, never been defeated and reached the final of a world cup since 1978, with Sneijder and Robben transform in a goal evey ball they touch

SPAIN
The European champions have come to play for the first time a World Cup final by opposites methods of Netherlands: by possession. Always, though. And expect that to happen also in Johannesburg next Sunday. Magicians have the ball in midfield, like Xavi, Iniesta and Xabi Alonso and sitting on the bench, ready to the task, there is always Fabregas. So exhausting the opponent with an endless web of passes, steal the initiative, and when "running" even hiding the ball. The team play with only one striker, as Fernando Torres is out of shape, but called David Villa with 5 goals in 6 games and leading scorer.
The overall goals are in fact only 7, just over one per game.

VERDICT
Netherlands and Spain have never won a World Cup so far. Netherlands can score anytime but they suffer against good defences, Spain have great organization and even if Torres is not at his best Del Bosque can count on Villa, Iniesta or anyone to score (like Puyol against Germany).

Spicebets verdict: Spain to win.
